Community Roots Harvest: A Volunteer Event
The RHOA invites residents to join us on Saturday, September 20th from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM for a hands-on morning in the Demonstration Garden! Together, we’ll harvest and process our root crops—digging up potatoes and onions—before preparing them for the curing process.
This event is open to all ages and all levels of experience—no gardening background needed, just a willingness to pitch in! Volunteers are an essential part of maintaining this special community space, and your help makes a big difference.
After the work is done, we’ll gather for a thank-you lunch provided to all volunteers.
RSVP by September 8th on the Members Portal . Please include any dietary restrictions when you RSVP, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
The curing process for our root crops takes up to two weeks. Once complete, all of the produce will be shared with the community at Horticultural Hangouts and at our Harvest Festival in October.
🌦️ Since this activity is weather dependent, our backup date is Saturday, September 13th in case of an early frost.
We hope to see you there!
